Big Brothers Big Sisters of Essex, Hudson & Union

Big Brother Alex and Little Brother Julian have been matched for 5 years and from the start their bond was strong. One of the greatest challenges this match faced together was Julian’s transition from elementary school to high school.

The transition was particularly difficult because it took place during the height of the Covid-19 Pandemic and Julian began attending all his classes online.

Once extra-curricular activities opened up again it became hard for him to balance schoolwork and football. Noticing this challenge, Alex began working with Julian to create a schedule to assist him to complete tasks, especially homework. Alex spent a lot of time during the school year helping Julian with homework and projects.

The hard work paid off and Julian made honor roll for the first time, a very proud moment in his life thanks to the support and dedication of his Big Brother. Julian’s dream is to be the first person in his family to graduate college and get his degree in Robotic Engineering. Julian continues to achieve BIG things with support from Alex.
